Although we use modern machinery to aid our efforts to bring you the
best quality handicrafts, we mostly follow the same customs and
techniques used by our ancestors for hundreds of generations. The more
aesthetic and delicate arts like wood carving, traditional masks,
Batiks, Lacquer-ware and paintings are always done by hand and thus
reflect the individuality and skillfulness of the artist.
All our skilled artists and handicraftsmen are descendants of very
old Sri Lankan craftsmen families dating back to the pre-colonial era of
the island. According to the folklore, 64 types of craftsmen came along
with the Ven. Mahinda Thero - the son of Indian emperor Asoka the Great
in 6th century B.C. Ever since, the technology is passed down from
father-to-son basis and not to any outsider. Therefore, only they know
how to reproduce the original arts of Sri Lanka.
We have the largest selection of traditional handicrafts, curios and
antiques in Sri Lanka and use the original techniques and quality
materials to produce only the quality items. Some more reasons are,
- Knowledgeable sales staff ready to answer all of your questions with
quick email response time.
- Wide selection of handicrafts and antiques to choose from.
- We stand behind all of our products, satisfaction is guaranteed.
- The Kandyan Arts and Crafts Industrial Centre has been selling
handicrafts since 1974, that is for over 3 decades and has a trail of
satisfied customers.
- Most importantly, customer service is #1. That is not just something
we say. We prove that everyday.
